Project Manager
1. What do you do at TEC?
I’m a PM with the highway design group, specifically the Orange Team, a SECRET division of the highway group. We continuously have about 10 active projects at various stages of design. I coordinate with clients, subs, MassDOT, project stakeholders, principals overseeing my projects, and all the other disciplines at TEC. I attend meetings, develop schedules, present our projects, and track budgets. I also identify the necessary tasks to complete the projects and guide the other engineers in my team to prepare designs and project documents (estimates, specs, etc). I am constantly hustling to stay ahead of the engineers in my group to keep their efforts productive, and to stay ahead of client needs and project deliverables.
2. What is your favorite part of being a member of the TEC team?
There’s a good atmosphere here and it’s great working amongst people that are also really pulling on the oars. The best days are when everyone is frantically busy and there’s a good hum of people coordinating and clicking away. I also appreciate that TEC has brought me into some large interesting projects and built a platform for me to develop into a leadership role.
3. What career would you be doing if you weren’t an engineer?
Carpenter or firefighter (it’s the family business!) or sailboat captain…I had accepted a first mate job several years ago, then I was offered an engineering position a month later. I made the adult choice and here I am!
