Following a sink hole opening up in the middle of the road and recommending emergency repair, TEC has been working with the Town of Raymond, NH to prepare bridge replacement plans for the existing 54 inch diameter corrugated metal pipe culvert spanning Fordway Brook on Shattigee Road.
The proposed bridge will be replaced with a three-sided precast concrete culvert supported on cast-in-place footings. The decision to use cast-in-place concrete footings was based on the presence of variable depth bedrock in the vicinity of the proposed bottom of footing. TEC also creatively proposed to use the existing culvert as the temporary bypass to allow for stream relocation to promote a more natural stream alignment. A Memorandum of Understanding was prepared with the neighboring Town of Chester as the Town owns the conservation property downstream of the proposed structure. TEC worked with DES to secure all environmental permitting for the replacement project. Traffic control was coordinated with the neighboring Towns affected by the temporary road closure to reconstruct the culvert.
Construction is set to complete in May 2024.
