Continued coordination between the City of Amesbury, MassDOT and TEC allowed for the reconstruction of Route 150 at South Hunt Road and the I-495 Ramps.
TEC’s design focused on the realignment of the South Hunt Road / Route 150 / I-495 Ramp interchange to allow for the installation of a traffic signal to support the anticipated increase in traffic volumes for the planned developments along South Hunt Road. Route 150 was also reconstructed to allow for multi-modal accommodations in hopes of providing greater bicycle and pedestrian connectivity between Route 110 and the Merrimack River waterfront. Other aspects of this design beyond the intersection realignment and the traffic signal construction included another traffic signal installation at the northern I-495 ramp interchange, a shared-use path, drainage improvements, a drainage infiltration basin, accessible curb ramps, sidewalks, pavement markings and signage upgrades.

The reconstruction of this intersection has led to the full depth reconstruction of nearly a mile of South Hunt Road which also provided multi-modal accommodations and significant drainage improvements to prepare these roadways for increased traffic volumes associated with the adjacent planned and permitted developments. TEC led the planning, design, and construction oversight effort of these two projects in collaboration with the City and MassDOT.
